COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, Minn. (AP) — Police say a man killed in an officer-involved shooting in a community north of the Twin Cities appeared to be armed.

Columbia Heights Police Chief Scott Nadeau says one officer from his department and another from Fridley fired at the man early Tuesday at a building housing a maid service and the man died. Nadeau did not say what kind of weapon the man appeared to have.

Nadeau says officers responded to a woman who was running and asking for help. She took officers back to a location where they encountered people involved in a domestic incident. He says that's where they encountered the man.

No one else was injured. The two officers have been placed on administrative leave per police department rules. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating.
