Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  Rochester motorists will be facing another significant detour this week.

The Olmsted County Public Works Department plans to begin rehabilitating 37th St between Highway 52 on the west and North Broadway on the east.

The road’s concrete panels became uneven after the street had been rebuilt and they will be repaired during the project, which will be done in two phases.

The first phase is scheduled to begin Monday and will shut down eastbound traffic between Highway 52 and West River Parkway. Westbound traffic will operate as normal and intersections will remain open, although there will be some daytime lane closures. Detoured traffic will use 41st Street NW between Highway 52 and West River Parkway.

Work will also begin between West River Parkway and Broadway. This will require one closed lane each direction.

The second stage of the project is scheduled to begin the week of August 15th and will close the westbound lanes of 37th Street between Highway 52 and West River Parkway. Eastbound lanes will be opened, although some some short term lane closures at intersections and at tie-in locations will be necessary.

Completion is anticipated in early September for the $1.3 million project. Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes if possible.
