Another Deadly Light Rail Accident in the Twin Cities

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — For the second day in a row, a person was struck and killed by a light-rail train in the Twin Cities on Friday.

Metro Transit spokesman Howie Padilla says a male bicyclist who turned onto the tracks was struck by a Blue Line train at 46th Street and Hiawatha Avenue in south Minneapolis on Friday morning. Fire Department crews had to extricate him from underneath a train car.

The bicyclist died at Hennepin County Medical Center. His name has not been released.

Authorities on Friday identified a pedestrian who was struck and killed by a Green Line train in St. Paul on Thursday as Nurto Abdi Aden. Metro Transit says the 67-year-old woman was hit when she ran across the tracks at a pedestrian crossing.
