MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Authorities say an elderly man has died and his wife has been injured in a Minneapolis house fire.

Firefighters found the couple inside the house on the city's north side about 6 p.m. Thursday. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman was rushed to the hospital. Assistant Fire Chief Bryan Tyner says the blaze appears to have started in a bedroom.

A firefighter on the scene suffered a hand injury while working the fire.

The fire comes just a few days after the state Fire Marshall reported this is Minnesota’s deadliest year for fires since 2011.  Yesterday’s fire increased the 2015 total to 52.
