Austin, MN (KROC-AM News) - High school students in Austin are being given an opportunity to attend Riverland Community College for free. The Hormel Foundation has announced a new program that offers full scholarships to Riverland to all qualifying seniors from Austin public and private schools. A statement issued by the foundation says the Austin Assurance Scholarship program has been in development for over 4 years.

“This is really going to be a game changer for our community,” says Riverland Community College president Adenuga Atewologun, “especially our students of lesser means and our immigrant populations. They will really benefit.”

Qualifying high school seniors who choose to take advantage of the program will receive a scholarship that will cover the cost of tuition and fees, along with a stipend for textbooks.
