It has become an annual story in Minnesota - an increase in alcohol-related traffic wrecks on state roads on Halloween night.  The state Public Safety Department says alcohol was a factor in half of the 14 traffic fatalities that happened on Halloween night between 2009 and 2013.  Nearly 40 percent of the serious injury wrecks on Halloween during that time span also involved alcohol.

Adding extra law enforcement officers to keep an eye out for intoxicated drivers on Halloween night has also become a tradition and that will be the case again this year.

Most of the extra officers will be on patrol in the 25 Minnesota counties that had the highest number of alcohol-related traffic wrecks resulting in deaths and/or serious injuries.

Olmsted County is ranked 8th on the list.
