Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A 5-year-old boy was airlifted to St.Mary's Hospital after he was struck by a car Tuesday evening near Byron.  

The Olmsted County Sheriff's Department says the driver of the car, a 69-year-old Mantorville-area man, was arrested on suspicion of criminal vehicular operation. The man was behind the wheel of a car that struck the child while the boy was riding in a wagon on the edge of 19th avenue northwest in Kalmar Township around 5:45 p.m.

There is no information available about the condition of the child, and the names of the boy and the driver have not been released.
